We Built the System We Couldn’t Buy.

We wanted a smart home that worked together, responded without a noticeable delay, kept core activity inside the home, and didn’t require monthly subscriptions for essential features. That system didn’t exist.

So we built One Raven.

Our Story

It started in our own homes.

Adding one device could mean disconnecting another. Tap a button and wait for the lights to respond. Every new product brought another app, another account, and another connection to manage.

The devices still had to be managed separately.

Everyday activity from inside the home was also being sent to outside servers. That meant the privacy and security of the home depended on companies, systems, and policies the homeowner couldn’t control.

Then there were the subscriptions.

Buy the hardware. Pay again to use features already built into it. Stop paying and lose access. One more monthly charge attached to the home.

We were tired of managing a system that was supposed to make life easier. We didn’t want another device or another app.

We wanted one system that made the products… Just work.

Our Promise

It just works.

That is the promise behind One Raven.

One home server brings supported locks, lights, climate controls, leak detectors, and presence sensors together. Three principles guide how the system is built:

  • Everything
    works together

Your products operate through one system instead of separate apps, accounts, and platforms. Adding something new shouldn’t require disconnecting something else.

  • Core activity
    stays home

Core controls and routines run locally through the One Raven home server. Remote access uses an encrypted connection when you’re away.

  • No required
    monthly subscription

Essential One Raven features remain available without a required monthly payment. You don’t have to keep paying to use the system.

Our Origin

The story behind the mark.
Why a raven?

A raven doesn’t announce how intelligent it is. It pays attention. It adapts. It solves problems. It communicates without making itself the center of everything. That is how we believe technology should behave inside a home.

The One Raven mark captures the same idea: a raven in flight, viewed from above. Separate lines connect to create one unified form—a wider view of the whole home, with every part moving together.

The raven isn’t a mascot. It’s a reminder that intelligence should make the home simpler—not louder.

How We Build

We don’t try
to connect
everything.

We choose supported products deliberately. We connect them through the One Raven home server and test how they behave individually, together, and inside a real home. A product isn’t included because its packaging says “compatible.” It has to work reliably as part of the complete system.

If adding something makes the home slower, harder to use, or less dependable, it doesn’t belong in One Raven. The goal isn’t to put more technology in the home. The goal is to make the technology already there work properly.

Our Founders

They lived
the problem
before they
built the
solution.

One Raven was founded by Lucas Haldeman and Sarah Roudybush with a drive to create a smart home platform designed for people who live in the home, not the companies that collect data from it.

The first generation of the smart home asked homeowners to send their data to the cloud and pay monthly fees for features they already owned. We don’t think any of that is necessary. One Raven is built to prove there is a better model—one where the home is intelligent, simple, private, and fully owned by the homeowner.
